Thursdays 13 & 20 May 2021
I am absolutely thrilled that South African legend Ken Forrester himself will join us live from Stellenbosch for this tasting, to co-present his award-winning wines. Ken’s Chenin Blanc wines have received massive international acclaim, with literally hundreds of awards and accolades, but there’s much more to his range than that, with Sauvignon Blanc, rosé and his passion for red wines of the Rhône Valley showing up in his own Grenache and Rhône blends for example.
With his wines poured at the opening of The Scottish Parliament (the Forresters have their origins in the Western Isles of Scotland) as well as the 85th birthday of ex President Mandela, Ken is one of the world’s great wine figures. Tom and Ken go way back, and this tasting is the latest in a number of collaborations. Ken has personally chosen the wines for this tasting, which he will describe in his own wonderfully entertaining but fact-filled style.
Over the two sessions Tom and Ken will introduce South Africa and Stellenbosch in particular, with Ken providing in-depth insight into what makes his wines so sought after. We’ll be tasting the Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc, Petit Rosé and fabulous Renegade Rhône Blend in week one, then seven days later, a Sauvignon shoot-out between the Petit Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, finishing off with another reserve wine, the Pat’s Garden Merlot.
This is a fantastic opportunity to spend some time in the always entertaining company of one of the world’s great wine figures, and to hear his story from the horse’s mouth. To buy these wines would cost you £82.70, but thanks to Ken’s generosity you can have the six bottles delivered to your door on mainland UK for just £70 – saving over £2 per bottle.
The tasting runs over two sessions, from 7pm – 8pm each evening. The ticket price of £25 covers both sessions and is per household, not per person. We’ll open three wines each night, but they’ll drink just as well over the next couple of days so nothing will be wasted.
You are welcome to attend without buying the accompanying wines, and if a date doesn’t suit, you’ll be able to access a recording of the session to taste along in your own time.
This tasting is split into two sessions on 13th & 20th May 2021, from 7pm - 8:15pm. Ticket price covers both sessions and is per household, not per person. You will be taken to the wine purchase page once you have bought your ticket.
Optional wine preservation kit available at checkout.
This case is supplied by Ken’s UK importer, The Great Wine Co. The wines should cost £82.70, but we have a special price of just £70, via the link that will be available to those buying tickets for this tasting. Please note this price includes UK mainland delivery.
